You are not writing for yourself (a sales pitch) or for search engines (cramming in key words); you are writing for the Reader. Search engines and Readers both reward quality content with rankings, links and traffic. Blasting out junk may get you some links from "we'll take anything" sites, but it does not build a solid foundation for you or your organization. Articles are the same as your site - if there's nothing there, people will just bounce away and look elsewhere.
